Big News for Okeechobee!

We’re excited to share the launch of the "Culture of Collaboration", a new EDC working committee focused on elevating community initiatives through teamwork and shared goals.

This group brings together the Chamber of Commerce of Okeechobee County, the Tourist Development Council - Visit Okeechobee County, the Economic Council of Okeechobee, and Okeechobee Main Street — all working side-by-side to support a stronger, more connected community. We are bringing back the UNITY in community.

 

Okeechobee’s United Vision for Growth

The Culture of Collaboration is a quarterly meeting designed to unite key economic and community organizations in Okeechobee, FL. This initiative fosters open communication, alignment of goals, and collective problem-solving to drive sustainable growth for local businesses. The participating organizations—Okeechobee County Economic Development Corporation (OCEDC), Chamber of Commerce of Okeechobee County, Okeechobee Main Street, Okeechobee County Tourist Development Council (TDC), and Economic Council of Okeechobee will work together to identify challenges, fill service gaps, and create a seamless support system for local businesses.

Purpose:

The primary purpose of the Culture of Collaboration is to ensure a unified approach to business attraction, retention and tourism growth in Okeechobee (community/tourism). Through quarterly meetings, we aim to:

  • Enhance Awareness & Alignment: Educate each organization on their respective missions, services, and current initiatives.
  • Identify and Address Gaps: Recognize barriers to business and community growth, including resource limitations, regulatory challenges, and service overlaps.
  • Improve Business Support: Develop coordinated strategies to better assist new and existing businesses, ensuring they receive the full range of support available.
  • Encourage Collaboration & Efficiency: Prevent duplication of efforts and streamline services by leveraging each organization’s strengths.
  • Foster Economic Growth: Work collectively to create an environment where businesses can thrive, strengthening the local economy.
