IRSC Wins ASPEN Prize

It's a great day to be a Pioneer.

Aspen Institute’s College Excellence Program announced Tuesday that Indian River State College was awarded the 2019 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence. IRSC will share the award with Miami Dade College.

The Aspen Institute is an educational and policy studies organization based in Washington, D.C.

The $1 million Aspen Prize, awarded every two years since 2011, recognizes outstanding institutions selected from more than 1,000 community colleges nationwide. IRSC and Miami Dade each will receive $350,000.

"We're shaking pom poms. This is terrific," said Suzanne Seldes, director of communications and brand strategy for IRSC. "It says so much about our students and how we work to make sure that they have a very successful future."
